Obtaining Bees

John Burnet's picture

Hi Tanya

All new members of the Club will be given the opportunity to purchase one or two nucleus colonies which the the Club will be making available with new queens in Nov. An email will be sent within the next couple of weeks so that members can register their interest. Cost will be $250 for each nuc and this payment will be required before delivery.

Because of the Club's work to provide these nucs and the risk of colony loss, we expect all nuc purchasers to have attended either a basic beekeeping course or several beginners' sessions over the winter so that they know how to look after their bees and what to expect. We also recommend purchasers attend at least one or two field days before delivery so that they can experience bees in a hands-on, up-close situation.

All hive-ware must be prepared in advance (a minimum of a single box, 10 waxed frames, bottom board, hive mat and roof). This equipment can be obtained from me in need.

Cheers

John

Second chance to obtain bees?

Lisa Polaschek's picture

Hi

I wasn't quite ready for the date several weeks ago to obtain a nuc + queen.  Will there be a second chance to purchase them from the club in the next couple of months?

Kind regards

Lisa
