When shaking bees of a frame, and the queen is on the frame, should I still shake it? Does this hurt the queen in any way?
If the queen is known to be on the frame I would suggest gently shepherding her off onto another frame in the hive as there is a risk of her falling out of the hive and getting lost or trodden on if the frame is shaken.
Frames should always be shaken directly over and close to the cavity from where the frame was taken and without the frame striking the box.
Generally though the queen is likely to survive unhurt if she falls off a shaken frame.
