We’ve received our annual AFB disease returns in the mail recently with a due return date of 1 June.
Some new members may not be aware of the ropes so here’s the drill.
Every beekeeper completes this form and sends it in. However, if you haven’t got a DECA enabling you to check your own hives for AFB, you will be sent an annual disease inspection form in the next month or so.
This is due by the middle of December at the latest and is signed by someone with a DECA who has checked your hives for AFB sometime between 1 August and 30 November.
It’s quite confusing so I’ve attached a handout which will hopefully help explain the process.
